Ville de Mikadoshi, population : 280 000 habitants. Un jour, un portail vers un univers parallèle s’est ouvert dans cette ville. Les frontaliers, envahisseurs venus de l’autre dimension, ravagent tout sur leur passage et sèment le chaos dans la ville où se trouve le portail. Cet autre monde dispose de technologies différentes et évoluées, laissant celle de la Terre sans effet.
Alors que tout était perdu, un mystérieux groupe se révéla avec pour objectif de repousser les frontaliers. Ayant égalé la technologie frontalière par leurs propres moyens, ils créèrent une organisation nommée « Border » dans le but de protéger la terre de ces apparitions.
L’histoire se déroule quatre ans après ces événements et suit Yûma Kuga, jeune étudiant étranger qui vient d’arriver à Mikadoshi.
